Scout for macOS (Apple silicon) - download bundle
Version: 0.0.1
Git:     01ffe3c
Built:   2026-10-15T21:51:33Z

The zip holds the VS Code extension (.vsix), the ohmic and ohmic-mcp
command line tools, an installer script, brand.toml, and SHA256SUMS.

Quick install: run the one-line command
  curl -fsSL https://ohmic-test.com/download/install.sh | bash
It installs the VS Code extension and the command-line tool. Run it
again to update.

1) Gatekeeper. Files saved by a browser carry the com.apple.quarantine
   attribute. A download made with "curl -O" sets none. Otherwise remove
   it from the .zip BEFORE you unpack it, then unzip:
     xattr -d com.apple.quarantine ~/Downloads/scout-macos-arm64-*.zip
     unzip ~/Downloads/scout-macos-arm64-*.zip -d ~/Downloads
   Source (Apple DTS): https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/706442
   If macOS still blocks a launch, open System Settings > Privacy &
   Security > Security section > Open Anyway. The button appears about
   an hour after the blocked launch:
   https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/open-an-app-by-overriding-security-settings-mh40617/mac

2) Verify the download, in the unzipped folder:
     cd ~/Downloads/scout-macos-arm64 && shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS

3) Install the CLI apps:
     ./install-app-bundles.sh --from ./bin
   This puts Ohmic CLI.app and Ohmic MCP.app in ~/Applications
   and links ohmic onto ~/.local/bin.

4) Local Network. Allow "Visual Studio Code", "Ohmic CLI" and "Ohmic MCP"
   in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
   The key grant is "Visual Studio Code": it spawns ohmic, and a helper
   started by an app counts as that app. Tools run from Terminal or over
   SSH are exempt:
   https://developer.apple.com/documentation/technotes/tn3179-understanding-local-network-privacy
   Undo a wrong click in the same place:
   https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mchla4f49138/mac
   On macOS 27.0 and 27.1 you can only turn the toggle off and on.
   The remove (-) button arrives in macOS 27.2 (TN3179 above).

5) Install the extension. Either open the Extensions view, choose
   "..." > "Install from VSIX" and pick the .vsix file, or run:
     code --install-extension scout-*.vsix
   https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/configure/extensions/extension-marketplace#_install-from-a-vsix
   If `code` is not on PATH: Cmd+Shift+P, then run
   "Shell Command: Install 'code' command in PATH":
   https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/setup/mac

6) In VS Code settings, set:
     scout.cliPath = /Users/<you>/.local/bin/ohmic
     scout.mcpPath = /Users/<you>/.local/bin/ohmic-mcp
   Use the full path; "~" is not expanded. Print it with:
     echo $HOME/.local/bin/ohmic

7) The full checklist, with every macOS prompt and how to undo it, is
   docs/knowledge/vscode/macbook-fresh-install.md in the Scout repo.
